Agentic Analytics Is a Trust Problem, Not a Model Problem
The BitBoard Launch HN is nominally a BI product, but every claim that matters is about making an agent’s output trustworthy enough to ship. Anyone running agents against real data has hit the same wall: the model is plenty capable, but nothing checks its work and nothing it figures out survives the chat thread.
- 🎯 Same call, same number. Determinism is the unglamorous feature that makes agent output auditable — reproducibility is a precondition for trust, not a nice-to-have.
- 🔍 Provenance on every answer. Knowing where a number came from is what lets a human sign off; without it you’re trusting a vibe.
- 💡 LLM to discover, deterministic code to execute. Use model judgement to find the drifting metric, then generate plain SQL or code to automate the fix — a pattern that contains the non-determinism instead of betting on it.
- ⚡ Columnar under the hood. DuckDB plus Arrow is the right call for agent-driven analysis where one bad query shouldn’t melt the warehouse.
- 📊 Shared primitives, role-specific tools. Humans and agents touching the same canonical measures is how one agent’s insight stops being invisible to everyone else.
- ⚠️ Verification is the unsolved part. “An agent needs a measurable goal and a way to verify its work” is the whole ballgame, and the hardest piece to build well.
The product site leans on “traceable and repeatable,” which is the right instinct. My open question: is a semantic layer plus provenance actually enough to let a long-running agent operate unattended, or does every non-trivial business eventually need a human back in the verify loop anyway?
